After working as a tour guide in Africa, Europe, and North America for the past 10 years, my first impressions of Houston were not positive—it did not have the aesthetic beauty of Cape Town, Paris, or Vancouver. Then I started to explore and learn about the city and saw how much it has to offer. When people think of traveling, they usually do not think of Houston because the things that make Houston cool and unique are often hard to find—many Houstonians do not even know that they exist. Mary Todd Lincoln House
Opening seasonally from March 15-November 30. Mary Todd Lincoln House is the childhood home of Mary Todd, first lady and wife of the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. The museum offers self-guided tours Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. An hour is allotted to finish the tour. The museum's first floor can be reached via a handicapped lift and wheelchair navigable.
