WalkSpy Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains what WalkSpy collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the website, the mobile apps and the streaming services.
2. What we collect
- Account data. Name, email address and password when you sign up. Anonymous walkers get a temporary account with no personal details until they choose to claim it.
- Location data. A walk is a GPS trace. While you stream we record your route so viewers can follow it on the map. Your profile settings control whether live location, past routes or only a generic area is shown to others.
- Audio and video. The stream you capture with your camera and microphone, plus thumbnails generated from it.
- Payment data. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never store full card numbers; we keep records of transactions, subscriptions and payouts.
- Usage data. Pages visited, walks watched, device and browser information, and analytics events collected through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager cookies.
- Notifications. If you enable push notifications we store a push subscription token for your browser or device.
3. How we use it
To run the service (streaming, maps, payments, notifications), to keep it safe (fraud and abuse prevention, moderation), to improve it (aggregate analytics), and to communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Sharing
We share data only with the processors that make WalkSpy work: Stripe (payments), Google (analytics), and our hosting and streaming infrastructure providers. Public parts of your profile and any walks you publish are visible to other users by design, subject to your location privacy settings.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual walks at any time, and you can delete your whole account from Account, then Edit Profile, then Delete My Account. Deletion anonymises your personal data immediately; transaction records are retained where the law requires it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email us and we will honour these requests.
7. Children
WalkSpy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child is using WalkSpy, contact us and we will remove the account.
8. Bystanders
Walks are filmed on real streets and may incidentally capture passers-by. Walkers agree to film responsibly under our Terms of Use. If you appear in a walk and want it reviewed or removed, email us with a link to the walk and the approximate time.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a material way we will give notice on the site or by email before the change takes effect.
